The song, "Turning Carbon into Gold" is the title song from the musical Turning Carbon into Gold. Part of each of the two verses has a "rap" (or, more likely, speech in rhythm) and then continues as sung. There is a middle part (which makes for a good solo for someone) and a refrain which is repeated several times (including at the beginning and at the end with a harmony voice on some of the syllables). The materials of the basic version of the musical (full script and vocal-guitar sheet music) are currently available as FREE DOWNLOADS.

The song is sung by the "Darwin Group" in the story who have just been told by Dr. Ristercraft (the "Baddy" in the story) that CO2 can be converted into oxygen through the process of growing a special algae for the production of clean biofuels. And this double function turns Carbon (CO2) into Gold (Renewable Energy).
